SYNOPSIS: 

Navigating the new aspects of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in the legal industry, specifically eDisocvery, can be a challenge – especially in a field resistant to such change.

Join two of the leading voices in eDiscovery on AI as we explore not only what is AI in the context of eDiscovery (separating it out from the traditional “Analytics” tools from the past decade – but delve into practical applications and workflows from the Plaintiff and Defense perspective. Additionally, we’ll discuss how to get buy-in from your attorneys and opposing counsel for such uses, and how to ensure your methods hold up with the judge.

Ben Sexton

JND’s Vice President of eDiscovery and Analytics, Ben Sexton, advises clients agencies in deploying the proper policy, process and technology to meet discovery goals and reduce risk. Ben is a leading voice on legal technology and big data, and an active speaker on AI related topics. He has conducted CLEs and spoken at numerous industry events, including Relativity Fest, ING3NIOUS and the WiE Innovation Conference.

Ben’s articles have appeared in Legaltech News, with recent publications including “The Role of ‘Gamesmanship’ in E-Discovery”, “GDPR: Brave New World or Business as Usual for E-Discovery?” and “Coronavirus and E-Discovery: How COVID-19 is Testing Business Continuity for Service Providers”. His perspective on document retrieval methodology and statistical validation was cited in “5 eDiscovery Best Practices by Industry Experts”, published by Above the Law.

Ben led the development of JND’s proprietary, Relativity-integrated eDiscovery applications: LayerCake™, MachOne™ and OneSearch™. Ben received a patent for LayerCake and won the 2021 “Best Innovation Award” at Relativity Fest.

Prior to joining JND, Ben held project management positions at a large legal consulting company and a national defense firm. Ben received his B.S. degree in Mathematics and Economics from University of Minnesota – Twin Cities. He is an advisory board member for RelativityOne, Certified Forensic Examiner (EnCE) and Relativity Certified Administrator (RCA).



Rachel Koy

A Solutions Engineer for JND, Rachel Koy helps tackle the unique challenges that arise for our clients, and create unique workflows and strategies to achieve their goals. Rachel works consistently for corporations directly, as well as law firms (both on the Plaintiff and Defense side of the bar).

Rachel’s background specifically helps clients to get to realistic uses of Analytics and Artificial Intelligence in eDiscovery. Her path through working for Content Analyst before it was acquired by Relativity and developed into Relativity Analytics. More than 8 years of focus on Analytics and AI exclusively provides Rachel an unparalleled understanding of practical applications of such tools.

Whether a client has a fast-moving internal investigation, a looming production deadline, or has just received a massive production, Rachel builds strategies to help clients achieve their goals as efficiently and effectively as possible.

Prior to joining JND, Rachel worked at Relativity and Content Analyst. She holds a B.S. in Integrated Science and Technology from James Madison University. She holds the highest level of certification offered by Relativity, as a certified Relativity Master – a designation held by fewer than 150 individuals globally. She additionally has specialist certifications such as Relativity Review Management Specialist, Relativity Analytics Specialist, Relativity Processing Specialist, and Relativity Project Management Specialist.

Jonathan has spent nearly a decade guiding law firms and corporations through their most complex data-intensive matters. Moody's experience spans enterprises ranging in scale from small businesses to multi-billion dollar corporations. Similarly, Jonathan has handled the eDiscovery needs of law firms ranging from boutique litigation firms to the largest firms on the AMLaw 100.

Jonathan values the relationships he develops with his clients, and aims to make their jobs easier, driving efficiency and value. His clients value his integrity, and rely on him for direction, strategies, and workflows for needs ranging from litigation hold to data retention, and eDiscovery.

Jonathan’s experience with eDiscovery, review and analytics is extensive. He is eager to again provide managed review services to his clients, as he began his career in eDiscovery managing document review projects. Additionally, Jonathan is excited to add both class action administration and bankruptcy administration as offerings for his clients.

Jonathan is licensed to practice law in Alabama. He earned his J.D. from Samford University, Cumberland School of Law, and his B.S. from the University of Alabama-Birmingham. Jonathan frequently speaks at CLEs and as a guest lecturer at law schools regarding eDiscovery and data management. He holds multiple industry certifications, including Relativity Sales Pro and RelativityOne Certified Pro certifications.
