May MALSP Meeting - Retention, Collection, and the Risks in Modern eDiscovery

SYNOPSIS: 

Law Firms and Corporate legal departments are dealing with a myriad of data sources more than ever before. Legacy systems that are being sunset but continue to be maintained for regulatory or litigation purposes to new collaboration platforms that blur the edge of work and social communication. We hope to explore how companies and firms are handling this technology and operational transition as COVID policies become permanent.

Beth Rauker - Global Records and Information Management Program Manager/IT Liaison and eDiscovery Liaison

Beth currently serves as a Global RIM Program Manager at Medtronic PLC.  She joined Medtronic in 2008 to develop eDiscovery processes and procedures.  She then moved into the Global RIM Program Manager role in 2014 and specializes in partnering with IT resources to ensure defensible retention and defensible deletion of Medtronic information.  Beth continues to work closely with Medtronic’s eDiscovery team as well as Medtronic Privacy and Security.  Prior to joining Medtronic, Beth worked in various law firms and legal industry partners.  Beth graduated from the University of Wisconsin Eau Claire with a BA in Political Science and Business.  Beth is known for building strong partnerships across the Medtronic organization. 


MODERATOR:


Alison Shier is a Client Solutions Director at Lighthouse. Alison began her career in eDiscovery over 11 years ago in Arnold & Porter LLPs antitrust group. From there, she worked for another eDiscovery provider as a Project Manager for several years before becoming one of ten National Account Directors. As a National Account Director, Alison worked with one of the largest global financial institutions to build out their eDiscovery program and playbook over a 3 period. During her 5+ years at Lighthouse, Alison has assisted some of the largest global corporations and Am Law 100 firms in successfully building and managing their eDiscovery programs. Alison partners with our clients to develop strategies for their highest stakes litigations and investigations, implement in-house discovery technologies, rollout technical training programs, apply advanced technology to drive cost savings and ROI, and ensure that client’s quality and service requirements are met consistently. Alison graduated from the University of Michigan with a degree in organizational management and consulting.
