April MALSP Meeting - COVID-19: Using O365 Tools to Securely Aid in Your Remote Work and Review

SYNOPSIS:

As the security and compliance landscape becomes ever more complex with the consistent changes to regional, state, industry regulations, it has never been clearer that both IT and Legal must be aware of what technology is available to assist in the changing world. By understanding and utilizing existing platforms corporations have already invested in, both IT AND Legal can see immediate ROI when reviewing their security and compliance needs. Microsoft is seen as a leader in both Security and Compliance offerings by Gartner, with most corporations deploying Office 365 company-wide; cross functional departments are better educating themselves across the entire platform.

Our monthly discussion on April 16th is hosted by Epiq and will include:

  • An overview of Microsoft’s Security and Compliance Center, with a specific focus on features related to Governance, Risk & Compliance, Data Classification, Threat Protection and eDiscovery (Core and Advanced and impact of Teams in discovery)
  • The COVID-19 Pandemic has expedited the rollout of Microsoft Teams for many organizations. How does this impact discovery? Where is the data stored? How long is it retained? When collected, how difficult is it to review?
  • Do you have an on premise review environment? Is COVID-19 challenging you to optimize, maintain or operate with remote and/or reduced staff? What are we seeing in the marketplace and what type of partners should consider to support you through the pandemic?
  • Finally, “Stay in Place” orders around the country have forced the closure of secure attorney review centers in most US Cities. What type of security should you prioritize and validate is in place with all of the remote review options flooding the marketplace?
