August MALSP Meeting - Understanding eDiscovery in the Cloud: Simple Definitions and Answers to Commonly Asked Questions

SYNOPSIS:

Cloud computing is changing how organizations and law firms approach eDiscovery, but there is still a lot of confusion surrounding the topic. This session aims to familiarize legal professionals with what the Cloud is and is not by providing simple definitions and presenting answers to a series of commonly asked questions. Learn basic cloud service provider selection criteria and see what a typical cloud eDiscovery workflow looks like in RelativityOne, the cloud version of Relativity.

PRESENTERS:

Ben Sexton, Vice President of eDiscovery and Analytics, JND eDiscovery

As JND’s Vice President of eDiscovery and analytics, Ben serves as an advisor to law firms on both sides of the aisle, Fortune 500 Companies and government agencies in deploying the proper policy, process and technology to meet discovery goals and reduce risk. He is responsible for all aspects of JND’s eDiscovery operations in Minneapolis as well as strategic planning and client acquisition.

Ben is a leading voice on legal technology and big data, and an active speaker on technology assisted review (TAR) related topics at various industry events including CLE’s and Relativity Fest. He has consulted on more than 200 cases in the past 10 years and is often requested to consult prominent law schools on eDiscovery best practices.

Ben also led the development of JND’s proprietary application LayerCake, a patent pending analytics software designed to accelerate digital investigations by predictively ranking evidence across large corpuses of data.

Prior to joining JND, Ben held project management positions at a large legal consulting company and a national defense firm. Ben received his B.S. degree in Mathematics and Economics from University of Minnesota – Twin Cities. He is an advisory board member for RelativityOne, Certified Forensic Examiner and Relativity Certified Administrator.

Nik Balepur, Solutions Architect, Relativity

With 10 years of experience managing legal and technology projects, Nik is well versed in maximizing operational effectiveness for e-discovery. He holds an MBA and is a member of Relativity’s customer success team, helping Relativity users better understand how to make the most of the platform.
