TOPIC: Continuous Active Learning and Assisted Review
Please join MALSP and Mary Ann Benson, Epiq’s Director of Consulting Services, for a discussion on next generation continuous active learning, CAL, tools and their impact on document review workflows compared with traditional active learning. Mary Ann will highlight the new technologies, provide review integration tips and focus on cost efficiencies.

PRESENTER:

Mary Ann Benson, Director, Consulting Services, Epiq Systems

Mary Ann Benson has more than 25 years’ experience in the legal industry, primarily in the areas of eDiscovery and information management systems. She brings extensive experience in strategic planning, client service and project management to the challenges of integrating developing technologies with the practice of law. Her primary focus is the delivery of high-quality service and technology to entities involved in litigation and investigative matters. At Epiq Systems, she works with corporate and law firm clients to ensure that the challenges they face with respect to the eDiscovery are met with the right blend of technology and expertise. She was responsible for leading Epiq’s initiative in predictive coding and has worked with clients on hundreds of projects involving this technology since 2009. In addition, she provides consulting on the development and negotiation of protocols that govern the use of this technology. The cases where predictive coding has been successfully used include litigation, internal investigations, FCPA investigations, Second Requests and SIRs as well as review of incoming productions. 

Prior to joining Epiq, Ms. Benson’s experience included nine years with Price Waterhouse Cooper’s Law Firm Services Group, 10 years as an independent consultant as well as several years working in a law firm or vendor environment. She has worked with many Fortune 50 and 100 corporations as well as AmLaw 100 firms.

Ms. Benson holds a Bachelor of Arts in history from the College of the Holy Cross and a Master of Business Administration from George Washington University.
